Kutsu mua Preludeäijäksi

Taas on väännetty vähän sitä ja tätä. Reikien paikkaaminen aloitettu ja terveen pellin löytäminen meinaa olla haasteellista. Kuitenkin nyt penkit on putsattu erään nimeltä mainitsemattoman Mikan tekstiilipesurilla ja näyttääpi olevan melkosen puhasta! Nyt kun vielä pääsisi sisustaa kasaamaan... :D Noh, eipä hättäillä, talveksi on luvassa kaikkea kivaa pikku verhoilu- ja ompeluhommaa ennen minkäänlaisia kasaustoiveita. ;)

// Interior has been removed and happily the inside looks pretty much rust-free. Although interior has been cleaned and seats are looking awesome! We have started working on holes on the left side of the car (under the backseat). If there's something slowing us down, welding is hard because of rust... So much rust...

Hitsaamisen ohessa Allu on lähinnä näperrellyt kaikenlaisia (turhia?) pikku juttuja. Etuvalojen ja vilkkujen johtoja, takavalojen johtosarjojen korjausta kahden auton johdoista yhdistelemällä. Mittaristo on myös purettu (taas) ja tällä kertaa kaikki toimii! Myös bensavalo jonka Allu luuli sanoneen sopimuksensa irti 90-luvulla...

// Meanwhile there has been rewiring lights and signal lights. And soldering rear light wires to make all brake lights work. Dash meters has also been removed and fixed (again) and now everything works! Even Gas light which Allu thought had died in 90s is now fixed.

Lämpöongelmat pitäisi nyt olla korjattu kahdella uudella anturilla (okei, okei toinen on valkosesta). Toinen syylärin puhallinta ohjaava anturi on vielä hieman mysteeri. Kuinka kuumaksi tämä oikein pitää ajaa että se lekti lähtee pyörimään? Termostaattikoteloon tuleva anturi onneksi herätti lämpömittarin henkiin.

// Temperature problems have been fixed with two new sensors (well another from white-one-the-sparepart-lude) One went to the bottom of the radiator for the fan and other for dash thermometer in thermostat box. Fan is still silent but that might be because high temperature sensor... The water is not warm enough.

Akku alkaa olemaan aika hengetön. Kaksi viikkoa maakaapeli irti niin jännite putoaa vähän reiluun 9 Volttiin... Ei sinällään ihme kun on ajettu vain talliin ja ulos + koeajoa se muutama sata metriä kerrallaan.

// Battery seems to be busted too. Two weeks without a ground cable and Voltage meter shows little over 9 Volts. Well, we haven't really driven the car much over the year so its no wonder that this happens. Few hundred meters of test drive and a little test revving.

Puskureiden kunnostus maalausta varten on myös aloitettu ja seuraavaksi listalla olisi konepelti ja sivuposki (lokasuoja).

// Also we started to refine the bumpers for paint. Lot of scratches and bad paint job. Next on the list are hood and side fender panel.

Myös SiRiin (sininen) on tehty pientä parantelua. Penkkien kiskoihin oli alkanut kerääntymään ruostetta, mitkä hiottiin pois ja maalattiin uudestaan. Peräkontin vahvistimelle menevä kaapeli myös muutettiin kulkemaan lattiamaton alta koko matkalla. Ei enää punaista kaapelia näkyvillä.
SiRin kanssa suunnitelmat ovat suuret ja teot pienet, nyt keskitytään tuohon punaiseen tosissaan.

Seat rails were a little rusted from their surface so they were cleaned and painted. Also now the power cable to amplifier goes under the floor mat, not over it. With SiR plans are big but actions smaller, focus is on the red one first.

Tottakai on melko työlästä ajaa 200km päähän tekemään autoa ja suorittaa saman viikonlopun aikana vaikka minkälaista. Silti edistystä kuitenkin on reippaasti suhteutettuna projektiin käytettyyn aikaan. Kyllä tämä kaikessa vaivassaan silti palakihtee!

"Se vitosprelude.." Niin mikä niistä?

Jookeliskookelis Saana täällä hei vaan!
Aateltiin äsken kimpassa, että kirjotellaan suomeksikin välillä ja puolet sitten tulee lontooksi.

Homman nimihän on nyt se, että kun meillä on niin monta Preludea perheessä, että kavereilla ja välillä myös pariskunnalla itellään menee sekaisin, mistä kikottimesta milloinkin puhutaan. On sontaläjää, valkosta, punasta sinistä, pappapreludee, lutkapulkkaa, mutsin preludee jne jne...

Kaikista huvittavinta ja oikeastaan omasta mielestä mielekkäintä on se, että kaikkiin näihin autoihin liittyy jokin tarina, miksi ne on olemassa tai miksi ne on hankittu. Meillä ei oo nämä autot sen takia, että koska urheiluauto pitää olla, vaan kaikki on lähtenyt yksinkertaisesti ystävyydestä, perheestä ja kaikesta muusta kovin imelästä :)

Että tässä nyt ne tulee, kaikki samassa postauksessa ja vieläpä numeroidussa järjestyksessä, nauttikaa!

We haven't got these cars just because owning a sports car is "fun": every one of them has something to do with our friends, family and so on... I think that it's funny that each of our cars have some kind of a story behind them about how they got to us.

1. The One and Only, Akin Prelude (aka pappaprelude, lutkapulkka eli "lutkis", punanen, ja kaikki muut hienot nimet. Muutoin ei paljon esittelyjä kaipaa!)

2. Saanan (ja okei okei, on se Allunkin) Prelude

Tämä vihattu ja myös samalla niin rakastettu auto ostettiin, kun ajoin Akin autolla lepikkoon. Auto löydettiin netin kautta ja siinä oli ostohetkellä lähes kaikki meille tarpeellinen osa tallella. Vaihdelaatikko sijaitsi - ja sijaitsee kyllä vieläkin - takakontissa, mutta sehän ei meitä haitannut!

Liikenteessä tämä ei ole ollut muistaakseni yli 10 vuoteen, ja ihan syystäkin, sillä en ole koskaan nähnyt näin mätäistä autoa :D Noh, kukkii se perunakin, sillä poskipellit, konepelti ja penkit oli kaikki lähes kuin uusia. Myös kaikenlaista pikku dinkeliä, mitä ei tuon kolarin takia ole jouduttu vaihtamaan vaan ihan muuten vaan, on tästä vekottimesta revitty. Parasta tässä kaikessa on se, että tämä ruostekasa irtosi huokeaan 200€ hintaan, ja myöhemmin olemme laskeskelleet säästöjä kertyneen satoja, ellei jopa tuhansia euroja (oikeesti ainakin kakskybää). MIKÄ LÖYTÖ JA HIRVITYS SAMASSA PAKETISSA!

3. Mutsin Prelude (aka anopin Prelude, valkonen, vitosprelude, mammaprelude jne.)

Kaksi vuotta sitten kesällä, kun olin juuri tavannut Allun, sain siltä pappapreludea lainaan, että käyn äitini luona kylässä. Mami siinä tuumasi sitten, että lähetään tytöt käymään kierrätyksessä. Ja niin me mentiin, Akin Preludella, ja sitä huutoa!!! kun Mainuan tielle kiihdytettiin nasta lattiassa nollasta kuuteenkymppiin :D (no eipä siinä, kukapa ei minun kyydissä huutaisi....) Sillon luulin, että se vihasi sitä koko vekotinta!

Mutta ei, vaan niin puri relutekärpänen! Puolitoista vuotta myöhemmin, viime syksynä, äippä sitten tokaisi yhtäkkiä, että hänpä on löytänyt netistä itelleen hienon Preluden ja sitä lähdettäisiin hakemaan parin viikon päästä Sodankylästä. Niin matkasivat Preludekuumeeseen sairastuneet Allu, Saana ja äitinsä asuntoautolla Lappiin jne jne...

No, miksi me sitten tästä autosta ees bloggaillaan kun se ei ole edes meidän oma? Siksi, koska tämä auto on meillä välillä "liisingissä" kun allekirjoittaneelle iskee autopula, ja vastavuoroisesti myö sitten äipälle tätä korjaillaan jos - ja kun - tulee tarvis! Kohdellaan yhtä hyvin niinku omaa :)

// One day two years ago i took my mom for a ride on Aki's Prelude and since that she has secretly wanted her own piece of gold :) So now she has it, and we help her to keep it on good condition!

4. Käyttöauto, eli Allun 5ft gen 4ws SiR (aka Siiri, sininen, japanintuonti, punainen vaate volvoäijälle jne...)

Ja niin meni Allulla ja Saanalla hermo kolarin jälkeen ostettuun Civiciin, ja oli pikkuhiljaa aika hankkia "järkevä käyttöauto". Noh, ainakin toimii ja taittuu! Eikä tarvi enää soitella Allulle raivoissaan matkalta kotiin, että suatana kun ei pääse eellä ajavista ohi tällä ripulikiikulla! Toimii myös täydellisesti matkailuautona, esimerkkinä tämän kesäinen reissu Ruotsiin telttailemaan. Tässä autossa on myös omasta mielestä kohtalaisen hyvä nukkua ;)

Siinäpä nuita kikottimia on sitten ihan tarpeeksi! Monesti ollaan naureskeltu, ettei kenenkään tarvi kysellä meiltä lastenteosta tms. kun näyttää, ettei autotkaan ole lapsiperheelle sopivia :D Viini, mun ihmiset, Hondat, ponit ja opiskelijaelämä, niistä on onnellisuus tehty...

Kyselkää jos jäi jotain mieleen! Muutenkin mietittiin, että kirjotettaisko jatkossakin myös suomeksi tätä blogia? Englanti tulee kuitenkin väkisin matkaan kun on muuallakin noita harrastelijoita kun Suomessa. :)

Vacation... what is that? (Summer Update)

We've been quite busy lately so our blog has been on pause... But the project isn't dead!

Our "garbage" has been moved to a better place and its time to get to work! Two weekends and over 600km later both cars were transported and Allu could start his "vacation" and the red car...

Finnish summer: Cold +10 degrees of Celsius, wind and rain. Perfect weather to continue the project.

BB9 (the white generation 5) had taken over the car lift to get lower balljoint and drive shaft replaced. Well, after a month it's still laying there and the spare parts are somewhere in Denmark... :)

Also Allu has been tackling with the heat problem again. Meter is not moving and fan stays silent.

Then he decided to take off whole meter assembly, and give it an alcohol bath. Still no solution. The fuq is wrong with these cars? :D I hope it isn't a wiring problem.

Next time heat sensor from the bottom of the radiator is going to get a nice little bath.
In Finland we usually drink vodka and we are very sad that it's going somewhere else than our mouths. But man gotta do what man gotta do... :)

At least now we don't have to fight over who's driving, because the Lady Person has her own precious ride, only for summertime use 8)

Anniversary

It is time to get hands dirty again!
It has been a year since the crash happened and the car is now driven back to garage (well not inside the garage but at least things are getting done). Within a year we haven't got much of progress. The main reason for this is that we were "forced" to put the Lude to storage for the winter time. Now its time to speed things up!

Engine is working but overheating. Also power is missing. First Allu is starting with the heat problem.

Front bumper off and and I think i found the reason why the fan is not spinning:

Connector from temperature sensor of the radiator seemed to be empty. Luckily we have the white bastard and it had a replacement connector! Oh, what would we do without that little piece of........ ;)

Well, the battery is busted and while charging it I tackled with the rust hole under the back seat.

After an hour I decided that the best thing to do is to lift the back of the car up. Then release the brake line, left back wheel and gas tank to remove all of the rusted metal.
Maybe that's what we're going to do after this fan problem is solved!

The saddest thing (Allu says it's the best thing..) to tell you is, that we no longer own Civic aka The little piece of shit. He is now continuing his adventures with someone who really has time for him.

So, now we only have three preludes and one Honda Monkey under repair - and somebody said that it should be enough for us... :D 

SiR - What Have I Done?

Hello everyone!
We have noticed that we have a lots of new readers and would like to say welcome to you all!
The story behind this project is the main reason why we are doing this and you can read it in english here and also in finnish here. Nice to see that there are lots of like-minded people out there!

But back to this blog.... Allu has gone mad - again. We already have a project Prelude, a spare part Prelude and Civic. And what a sane person does?

HE BUYS ANOTHER PRELUDE! This thing is a last generation (5th gen) JDM SiR BB8. It's powered with 2.2L H22 Vtec engine and electronic 4WS system. It's pretty clear, that this car is one of a kind in Finland and we are very proud and exited about it - especially the owner is ;)

And then something about the old project. Last weekend we cleared mold from the interior, which Prelude had gained during the "storage season". It was quite bad, so we decided to use chlorite and let it dry after it. Now we are hoping that the fabric won't lose too much of color.

Later we'll probably clean it again with a steamer and use some conditioner for the fabric, so that there will (hopefully) not be any mold inside the car next spring. Otherwise the car is almost ready for driving back to the garage so we'll be back in business soon!

It's ALIVE!

Quick finnish grammar:
Bensalenkkari = A person wearing dirty Karjala-cap and having gas on his shoes, usually owns Toyota Corolla and doesn't get the ladies.

Yesterday was a good day! We were lying on a sofa with a little hangover when Allu decided that it's time to take the Prelude out of the garage. Prelude had been standing still for 5 months and we had to see if it still runs. The only thing broken after standing all the winter was the last exhaust pipe holder. Also the car was a little stuck and we pull it out with The Mazda all mighty 1.8L! One person holding the pipe, one pulling it with Mazda and one pushing from the front we gladly got it out.

After charging the battery and checking fluids it was a time for a first start...

...and it works!

Well, there used to be four holders... :D
Can't wait to get back to work! Five moths of planning and doing research is finally over and we can get our hands dirty again. And Saana probably can't wait to get her hands on all the mould we found from the inside of the car - again. ;)

And we're back!

Spring is finally here and for our mental health we have to write something. For the last couple of weeks Allu have spent more time on searching for information and spare parts than sleeping. We've also had a car fever: replacing Civic with a last generation Prelude.

Sometimes it feels like we should seriously change the blog name to "Four Hondas, none of them working". :D Civic is almost done for the spring and it should go through the inspection next week. That piece of shit has been standing still from November.

And you still remember the white 2nd gen prelude we have? It's also looking great!

Just heard yesterday that our dear friend Jesse can't wait to get welding again! The winter has been (obviously) cold and long enough for waiting. Luckily we've sill had the 5ft gen Prelude to fix regularly, so none of us had to go through antidepressants!
We look forward that the project will continue on April. We also think that the most precious Prelude doesn't even need any paint. Just look at it!
