Smell of burning paint

Sunday, little hangover and sunny weather time for transplant.

New gas bottle for welding mic and Jesse (with few hours of sleep last night) back to work.
After two hours of smell of burning paint and hammering the bar it looked like it should.
Transplanted bar was also little twisted but radiator fit fine and it should do. Some modification and paint next time and rebuilding can continue.

Now some pizza and fresh air with Saana.

Rusted From The Rain

Today our aim was to remove the bar where radiator stands from the white Prelude.
It was the last piece to remove before we can start to rebuild the red one (FINALLY!!). With my luck it started to rain and we had to do something else. The red one was in the cold garage so we removed drivers seat and floor mat for some cleanup (very dusty... and dirty... and dusty...).
Finally the rain stopped and we could continue removing the bar. Spot-welded bar was as hard to remove as it was on the red one last time. Happily nothing is impossible, when you can have one beer and an iron bar!
The bar was damaged a little when we removed it so we had to show some ledge hammer to it. Sadly we didn't have gas to a welding mic and we had to leave it to the next time!
All the body parts we need are now removed from the white Prelude.
Can't wait to start the rebuild!

PS: Jesse I owe you in big time.

Sinä punainen ruostekasa

Vacation is over and our trip to Norway behind. Time to get back to work and continue the project.
Grinder, hacksaw, iron bar and a lot of brute force. Bent front bar where the radiator should "stand" was tough to deal with but finally came off.

Plastic shield that protects the engine from below was stuck, broken and fasted from many "interesting" places. It was also pain in the ass. Days are getting shorter, darker and colder so I hope I can move Prelude to the another garage which is warm and has better lights. From 18 to 21 is short time to make any progress.
Next time we will get the body parts from white Prelude and start welding them to red one. And hopefully start to get things back together instead of tearing down two cars. Now some remppaviini and also something they call laatuaika.

Kesäloma? (Relax take it easy)

So I'm on vacation first time on five years and what I'm doing?
Prelude is not gona fix it self and I have spent two days fixin "ripulikiikku / shaissevick" (EG Civic)
My to-do-list from Sunday:
- Passenger side lights (the ones that set them selft on fire)
- Passenger side door (one that doesn't open from outside and opens when driving by itself)
- Gaugelights (can't see shit before driving over 100km/h)
- New front speakers (because OEM ones are broken and made from paper)
- Speaker adapters (Tein itse säästin selvää rahaa / selfmade awesomeness)
- 1 000 000 km of new wire (mostly because of previous owners and awesome "patents")
- Sound insulation in doors ("Mullon Civicissä kitkarenkaat, kitkarenkaat....")

So after two days, 25 hours of work and 13 beers later I'm almost done. Very tired but somehow very satisfied.

You son of a b.....

Everyday there are surprises some are good some are bad. Today there was bad ones.
After a break returned to project to take a better look of the red one. The engine is running, car is moving that is big plus. Time to look what needs to be done with the body.
Brakes and shock absorbers are fine. Good thing so far.
Removing interior and seats. Lot of cable for the speaker system and some bad surprises.
Hole behind passenger seat...

Hole behind backseat bad... very bad...
But I'm not ready to give up. Next week some new metal and work for Jesse. Now couple of beers and begin to plan how to fix EG:s lights.
